- Hon. David C. Lam Cherry Grove
Flowering cherries have been planted in the Garden since early days, but in 2008 a number of new varieties were planted to honour cherry lover, the Hon. David C. Lam, when the grove on the Great Lawn was named for him shortly before his death. Vancouver has had a long tradition of planting flowering cherries along its streets, starting with gifts of trees from Japan in the 1930s. The Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival is headquartered at the Garden.
