Common name: Great white cherry
Prunus (Sato-zakura Group) 'Tai-haku' is a white-flowering Japanese cherry tree. We have two specimens on the Great Lawn. It had nearly died out in Japan 100 years ago, but thanks to an Englishman, 'Cherry' Ingram, it was reintroduced to that country where it is now flourishing - see Garden Story.
