Common name: London plane tree, hybrid plane, intermediate plane
Platanus × hispanica is a large deciduous tree with mysterious origins. It is also called P. x acerifolia. It is either a hybrid or P. orientalis and P. occidentalis or possibly a cultivar of P. orientalis. Whatever its origins, it is an excellent street street that can withstand urban pollution and bad pruning. Our one specimen was planted in 1973 in bed 32T just west of the Floating Bridge.
