Common name: Oriental plane, Old world sycamore
Platanus orientalis is a large deciduous tree. Native to southeast Europe to Asia Minor, plane trees grow naturally along the banks of any river or stream. You can find our one and only Oriental plane tree in the Mediterranean Garden in bed 32T. It was planted in 1991 and is flourishing in a moist area not far from water.
