Common name: Black willow
Salix gracilistyla 'Melanostachys' is a busy shrub with large black catkins (see Garden Story). Our specimen is several metres south of the top of the Waterfall. It was moved there from the BC Habitat Garden, after having been cut back to the ground. It only took a few years to get to a height of 2-3 metres.
