Common name: Chinese dogwood
Cornus kousa var. chinensis is a tall, flowering dogwood smothered with white star-shaped flowers in late spring and red fruits in autumn. In older trees, the bark has a pleasing patchy appearance. We have two specimens on the south side of the Rhododendron Walk. It is native to China but closely related to the Japanese C. kousa.
