Common name: Moosewood, stripebark maple, snake bark maple, goosefoot maple
Acer pensylvanicum is an understory maple native to the forests of southern Canada and northern USA. It has striped bark and broad, slightly lobed leaves. The species was initially named by Linnaeus who misspelled the state name of Pennsylvania, where it is native.
