Xanthocyparis nootkatensis is an evergreen conifer native from southern Oregon to Prince William Sound, Alaska. It was first seen on the lands of the Nuu-chah-nulth people of Vancouver Island, who used to be referred to as the Nootka. This species is a cypress of the Cupressaceae family and has a checkered taxonomic history.
