Common name: Hooded pitcher plant
Sarracenia minor is a carnivorous perennial rhizome native to the southeastern US. Its 'trap' is topped by a 'hood', unlike the traps of other pitcher plants. It is smaller than many other members of the genus.
Our specimens live in pots in the Bentall Garden and are cut back every year. Being in pots makes it easy to keep them moist because their habitat in the wild is often waterlogged.
