Common name: California fuchsia, Zauschneria, hummingbird flower
Epilobium canum is a perennial plant native to California and is one of the few native plants there to bloom in the height of summer. Ours sports its scarlet blooms in late summer at the entrance to the Grotto. Hummingbirds love it. It used to be in the genus Zauschneria but has been moved to Epilobium and is still often called by the former name.
