Common name: Sunflower
Helianthus annus is the common sunflower. Native to the Americas, it was brought to Europe in the 16th century where they were quickly incorporated in the diet. Each tall plant (up to 3 m (9+ ft) sports a single large flower. We have dedicated an entire garden to them where visitors can walk through a sunflower forest.
in 2021 we planted these varieties: big ‘Titan’, Russian ‘Peredovik Organic’, and the variously-coloured ‘Autumn Beauty’.
