Common name: Wada's Memory
Magnolia x kewensis 'Wada's Memory' is a hybrid deciduous magnolia with strappy white flowers. The new leaves open red, then gradually turn green.
It has a local connection: Japanese hybridizer Koichiro Wada gave some seed to Brian Mulligan at Seattle's Washington Park Arboretum. Mulligan selected the best clone and named it after Wada in 1959.
