Common name: Witch hazel
Hamamelis x intermedia 'Jelena' is a cultivar developed in Belgium, with striking red-orange flowers. See Garden Story. Some of our specimens are being taken over by rootstock (see label photo), so the flower display is not as spectacular as previously. Compare the two tree photos, one taken in 2009 and the other in 2021. It was named after Jelena de Belder. Jelena' is pronounced with a 'Y' sound at the beginning.
