On Sakura Day, April 3, 2008, the Haiku Rock was unveiled as part of the opening ceremony of the Honourable David C. Lam Cherry Grove. The winning entries from the first three years of the Haiku Invitational were inscribed on the stone, which was unveiled by Vancouver’s Poet Laureate, George McWhirter. Dr. Lam was present at the ceremony and was a frequent visitor to the Garden, where he enjoyed chatting with guides.
