Common name: Dwarf English yew
Taxus baccata 'Amersfoort' is a dwarf, evergreen conifer shrub with non-yew-like foliage. It only grows about 1-15 cm (1-6 inches) a year. Female plants develop red berries in the summer.
It was hybridized in France but was planted at a mental hospital in Amersfoort in the Netherlands and somehow got that cultivar name. Our specimen was planted in 2015 in the Backyard Bird Garden.
