Cotoneaster harrysmithii is a deciduous shrub native to China, found in bed 122. It has small red fruits in summer. The genus name is from cotoneum, Latin for 'quince' and aster, meaning 'resembling'. It is in the rose family. Dr. Karl August Harald "Harry" Smith (1889-1971) was a Swedish botanist who introduced other Asian Cotoneaster species into the West.
