Common name: Makino rhododendron
Rhododendron makinoi is native to Honshu, Japan. It is a medium-size shrub, with pink flowers. The narrow leaves have a striking tan indumentum on the under side. They have the narrowest leaves among all evergreen rhododendrons. They were named for an important Japanese botanist Tomitaro Makino who was the first to describe them.
