Common names: Mountain everlasting, stoloniferous pussytoes, catsfoot or cudweed
Antennaria dioica 'Rubra' is a red-flowered, ground-hugging perennial that is dioecious (hence the epithet 'dioica') but can also reproduce without fertilization. It is found in groups which can be all-female colonies, all-male colonies, and also mixed colonies. In the species plant, male plants have whiter flower heads than female plants.
We have several clumps of them in the Woodland Garden, bed 24B.
