Common name: Houpu magnolia, spice magnolia, magnolia-bark
Magnolia officinalis 'Biloba' is a tall deciduous magnolia native to China. Its large white flowers are fragrant, and they bloom in late spring. The long oval leaves have a notch at the tip, hence 'biloba.' The bark has been used for millennia in traditional medicine. We have two in the garden, and one is near the waterfall.
