Landscape 75 was created in travertine by Jira Sugawara for Italy during the 1975 Stone Sculpture Symposium. The book Public Art in Vancouver speculates that the streaks of colour in the stone and the placement of the four shapes may represent the origins of travertine in Turkey, China, the US and Europe.

No other information about the sculptor was found. It is intriguing, however, that he represented Italy, not Japan, at the Symposium.
