Common name: Devil's Club, Devil's Walking Stick, Alaskan Ginseng
Oplopanax horridus is native to the Pacific Northwest, but also found natively on islands in Michigan. It has very sharp spines. First Nations used it medicinally.
Erica says that devil's club is a ferocious and handsome plant with puncture-making bristles on every part, the bane of early travellers and surveyors.
