Monarda fistulosa is a BC native perennial. The genus Monarda was named by Linnaeus for Nicolas Bautista Monardes, a Spanish physician and botanist who studied medicinal plants. Fistulosa means tubular, referring to the petals. A member of the mint family, it is widely used as a medicinal herb.
