Common Name: Dwarf eastern hemlock, Canadian hemlock
Tsuga canadensis 'Hussii' is a dwarf, slow-growing hemlock, often used for bonsai. It is named after John Huss who discovered it at the beginning of the 20th century. It was planted in 1973 in the Alpine Garden. This dark green North American native conifer grows slowly into an irregular but pleasing shape.
