Common Name: Tulip tree
Liriodendron tulipifera is one of the tallest trees in eastern North America. The tulip-like yellow flowers bloom at the top of the tree and are often not very visible. The leaves are also tulip-shaped (although one garden visitor likened them to 'hocky sweaters') and turn yellow in the fall. Liriodendron means 'lily tree.'
