Common name: Japanese larch
Larix kaempferi is a deciduous conifer native to Japan. The leaves turn gold in the fall. There are several species and cultivars (e.g. L. kaempferi 'Blue Dwarf') in various parts of the Garden.
This larch demonstrates 'crown shyness'.
