Common name: Butterfly bush, summer lilac
Buddleja davidii is a vigourous shrub that blooms in summer. Its inflorescences can produce thousands of seeds, which are then dispersed by the wind, so it is considered an invasive species in many places, including British Columbia. It attracts butterflies, hence the common name.
The genus name is also spelled "Buddleia."
