Common name: Texas buckeye, western buckeye, Ohio buckeye, horse chestnut
Aesculus glabra var. arguta is a deciduous tall shrub or small tree native to southeastern and central North America. It is planted on the southeast corner of the Woodland Garden just across from the Plaza. It has creamy white flowers in late spring, and its prickly seed capsules hold 2-3 shiny seeds.
